The Guangdong Hongyuan Basketball Club beat the Guangzhou Long-Lions Basketball Club at 92-82 during a friendship match at Shenzhen’s Longhua Culture and Sports Center on July 30.
The match was a focal of the Longhua Basketball Weekend event, attracting over 6,000 spectators from across the province.
The Guangzhou Long-Lions initially dominated, securing a commanding 21-9 lead in the first quarter. However, Guangdong Hongyuan found their stride and managed to overturn the deficit, taking a formidable 44-35 lead by halftime. The intensity of the game remained high as both teams fought fiercely for every point. Eventually, The Guangdong Hongyuan emerged triumphant with a narrow 92-82 victory.
The matchday was also birthday of Du Feng, head coach of Guangdong Hongyuan,. The audience sang a birthday song as a gift for him, to which Du responded with a finger heart to express appreciation.
“I was memersized by the sportsmanship vibes on the court,” said a basketball fan from the spectator stand, “I wish I could be a basketball player like them in the future.”
In recent years, Longhua District has made remarkable strides in enhancing its cultural and sports infrastructure. Notably, three new sports venues have been unveiled in the past three years: Jiulongshan Sports Park, Jianshang Sports Complex, and Longhua Cultural and Sports Center. The district also plans to construct a total of 13 cultural and sports venues by the culmination of the 14th Five-Year Plan Period in 2035.
