Shenzhen is expected to be hit by downpours and torrential rains Thursday and Friday as this year’s ninth typhoon, Ma-on, is approaching northeast of the South China Sea, according to information released by Shenzhen Municipal Meteorological Observatory yesterday.
The typhoon, at tropical storm level, was formed 11 a.m. yesterday. It was located about 1,227 kilometers southeast of Shenzhen at 2 p.m. yesterday and is expected to enter the South China Sea early tomorrow morning and move northwest towards Guangdong’s coastal areas.
Temperatures today and tomorrow will remain high with thunderstorms forecast around noon.
